Let me preface this by saying that its rare to have an unhappy family step in front of my camera; in fact, I don’t think I’ve ever had an unhappy family sit for me. (Lucky me, right? #thumbsupforsmiles) Every now and then, though, there comes a family so joyful that their joy is absolutely infectious and their smiles brighten my day. I have looked at this family session probably a gamillion times and every time, a smile spreads across my face. How could it not? Look at those giggles and rosy cheeks! Be still, my heart! I wish I could mass produce that joyful abandon and give it away to everyone on… Keep Reading
Did you know there are four distinct words for love in ancient Greek? Agápe, éros, philia, and storge. The last one, storge, refers to familial love, or a love that is based on loyalty and commitment. While shooting this gorgeous (I mean, seriously!) family’s session, I could tell that they have storge in heaps and mounds. The way they talk and laugh together, don’t take themselves too seriously, and obviously value each other was so beautiful to watch. Taking their portraits was a blessing to me as a photographer and a refreshing drink of water as a parent. SERIOUSLY! How stinking adorable and wonderful are they?! This was totally spontaneous and my inner cheerleader… Keep Reading
There are times when things flow together effortlessly and then there are times when nothing flows at all. Of all the relationships in life that illustrate this, the most perfect example is the relationship between siblings and never do things flow quite so beautifully as when siblings are together in a place of wonder. These siblings and I found ourselves on a perfectly sunny, gusty Kansas City day at the World War I Memorial and the adventure began. We ran and twirled, jumped, hula-hooped and giggled our way through this session. There were at least a hundred ideas shared, some were explored and others left to float away on the wind… Keep Reading
And by “Spring Is Here” I mean its warm, now its cold, now its warm….now its cold. 😉 But my kale is thriving and the daffodils have long since showed their sunshiny faces, so Spring is definitely here! As soon as the weather warms up, my family is outside; we have a thing for yard work. My husband built me two more raised beds this spring, so while he was installing those the rest of us found whatever excuse we could to be out as well. We planted carrots, sugar snap peas, some early herbs and more kale. Lena dug some holes and Eli practiced his tennis moves while… Keep Reading
My baby isn’t a baby anymore, you guys! This girl turns five today and we are, like all parents, shocked that our little one could possibly have grown up this fast. But grow up they must and do and so today we celebrate everything she is. From the earliest days of her life, she has been such a joy. Even now, with her many opinions and vocalizations of them, she is such a happy, pleasant person. The amount of life in her just staggers me – the energy that she brings to every situation is a beautiful thing. Her outlook on life is so positive; she’s never upset… Keep Reading
This beautiful mama and her boys braved a chilly November day for their family session. Other than the blankets we brought along, you’d never know – just looks at those bright smiles! (And check out Little Brother’s eyes – holy gorgeousness, Batman!) Naturally with two busy boys in the family, there was a lot of running and jumping to keep our blood pumping. 😉 Thank you, Klekaczs, for hanging out and being generally amazing. I’m so blessed to have you in my life.
If you’ve visited New Hampshire Street Photography’s website lately, you may have noticed some changes to the information pages: some info has gone away, but other info has been added. One thing I really want to push is product education; the products we offer are ah-mazing, but if we don’t talk about them, you won’t that know until they’re delivered to your doorstep! We’ve added details about each to our Packages & Pricing page, but want to go one step further. We want to show you how awesome they are and today we’re spotlighting one of our favorite products, the signature album. These albums are really beautiful. They’re… Keep Reading
This family is and always will be one of my favorite families. They are the champs at keeping it real, making each other laugh and keeping me on my toes. Oh, and absolutely killing their family sessions. 😉 Check out Dad getting in on the slo-mo action. This makes me laugh every time I look at it; I just love how ready and willing he was to jump in on this.
There is something at once wonderful about working for family, especially when its chosen family. You know chosen family – people not related by blood or law, but so much a part of your life that it barely signifies. Well, meet Megan: this girl has been a part of my life since she was in preschool. Our families have spent holidays together, stayed up much too late on many occasions, and helped each other find our ways through life; we’ve watched as storms have been weathered and mountain tops celebrated and slowly became chosen family. Of course, I’ve long since moved away from home, so it never occurred… Keep Reading
